Over 20 Years Of Experience
Advancing Africa’s voice in global governance
The African Centre for Transnational and Global Governance (ACTaGG) at Nexus International University is a pan-African research, policy and training hub dedicated to strengthening Africa’s role in transnational and global governance. ACTaGG produces rigorous, policy-relevant research, hosts high-level dialogues, and builds the technical capacity of policymakers, practitioners and scholars so that African perspectives shape international decisions about trade, climate, digital governance, peace and more.
Our vision
A leading African institution for excellence in transnational and global governance studies, inspiring innovative policies that advance Africa’s interests on the world stage.
Our mission
To conduct cutting-edge research, deliver high-quality education and training, and convene multi-stakeholder dialogues that strengthen governance mechanisms at transnational and global levels — all grounded in equity, sustainability and African agency.
Core objectives
Produce policy-relevant research on pressing transnational issues (e.g., illicit financial flows, digital sovereignty, climate justice).
Build capacity through short courses, certificates and executive training for public servants and practitioners.
Convene policy dialogues and forums that connect African scholars with government, business and civil society.
Forge partnerships with regional and international institutions to amplify African policy positions.
Thematic pillars
ACTaGG’s research and programming are organised around four interlinked pillars:
Global Economic Governance & Finance. Debt, AfCFTA, illicit flows and development finance.
Energy Transition, Environment & Climate Governance. Climate finance, just transitions and resource governance.
Digital, Technological & Data Governance. AI policy, data sovereignty and digital inclusion.
Regional Integration & Peace. Development Nexus. RECs, conflict prevention and transnational resilience.
Leadership & Governance
Advisory Board
ACTaGG is guided by a distinguished Advisory Board of senior scholars and practitioners who provide strategic direction and connect the Centre to policy networks. Board members include
Fellows & Senior Researchers
ACTaGG brings together a multi-disciplinary team of fellows and senior researchers from across Africa, Asia and beyond to deliver high-quality research and training. These fellows anchor ACTaGG’s research agenda and mentor junior researchers and postgraduate students.
Research & Publications
We produce policy briefs, working papers, and an annual State of African Governance Report to inform policymakers and the public. ACTaGG aims to generate rigorous analysis that can be translated into actionable policy recommendations.
Training & Capacity Building
ACTaGG designs certificate courses, executive short courses, and tailored training for public servants, diplomats and civil society — combining classroom learning with simulations, policy labs and hands-on exercises.
Policy Dialogue & Events
Our convening work includes the ACTaGG Policy Dialogue Series, roundtables, and an Annual African Governance Forum that bring together government, multilateral agencies, and scholars.
Outreach & Knowledge Exchange
All publications and multimedia outputs are shared via our online portal to broaden access to African governance scholarship and ensure research influences national, regional and continental policy debates.
